When HDMI is plugged in mute speakers not master. On kernel 3.2, master also mute SPDIF, causing the HDMI to be silent. Mute Speakers instead. BUG=chromium-os:28564 TEST=Manual, gmerge chrontel to ZGB and hotplug a TV several times making sure audio routes to the TV, and that volume and mute controls continue to function.
